Four Ways to Increase Your Chances of Winning in EA Sports FC 25’s Rush
By Kenn Leandre|October 25, 2024|0 Comment
Annual releases of EA Sports’ football game franchise – EA Sports FC 25 (formerly known as the FIFA series) have always been clowned by its critical yet devoted fanbase as a mere roster update with incremental improvements. However, as we mentioned in our review of EA Sports FC 25, a new revamped mode in this year’s entry may very well be the best mode to ever drop in EA Sports’ annual offering. Rush.
Rush is a 5v5 mode where 4 random drop-in players, or friends in groups of 4 alongside an AI-controlled goalkeeper compete in frantic rounds of intense football matches with probably the most annoying commentary in the history of football games. It’s essentially a compact, super-saturated version of Clubs where situational awareness and decision-making trump any flashy play a 5-star player can conjure up.
Playing with randoms will always be a mixed bag so it won’t be long before you find yourself tracking back to defend alone no thanks to teammates who consistently lose possession of the ball from failed dribbling attempts. Just like in real life, folks lacking skill do not know they don’t have it. Wannabe Neymars being caught out as being more of a Shein Antony. So today we have several tips on how to increase your chances of winning a round of Rush on FC25.
These aren’t sure-fire ways to win, but they sure as hell increase your chances of not being on the losing side. Regardless of specific time-limited stipulations or restrictions, these tips will more often than not ensure you end up on the winning side at the final whistle.
Common sense would suggest you pick players with high speed-related stats however with a much smaller field in Rush, so does the space to run into. Everything funnels to the goal. High Physical stats tend to come paired with a commanding physical presence. Yeah it’s cool to have Karim Adeyemi with 96-speed rushing about but he will almost always get stopped when running into a beefcake like Ibou Konate.
Hold down R1/ Right Bumper when doing ground passes. This produces a much more direct pass with reduced chance of them being intercepted. Unlike lobbed passes, low-driven, grounded passes when done right, sets up the receiver for their next move almost immediately. Besides, a well-executed pass will always be faster than even the fastest player in the game.
Now this may sound counter-intuitive but let us explain. The natural tendencies of footballers is to a) Dribble the ball and b) Score goals. This, in most cases, leads to a team consisting of four attacking players, unwilling to pass to one another and/ or totally lacking in the Physical department. Even with just one designated defensive-minded player, your team will be more likely to stop an attacking move and catch opponents off-guard and out-of-position.
Also, armed with the driven pass, you’re just one move away from assisting a teammate’s goal.
If you have enough coins, get Real Madrid’s Federico Valverde. If you, like us, barely top 20K in coins, fret not. Many players fit a similar mould, an all-rounder who will excel at all positions, especially in Rush. Here are some of their examples; feel free to suggest more in the comments section but you get the drift. Think Steven Gerrard, and model players who most closely resemble him.
You get the picture.
A pass-first mentality will almost always lead teams to a win. Dribbling makes players’ movements very predictable. True, dizzying turns will sometimes send defenders wrong-footed. But the same goes with your teammates too leading to loss of possessions and worse, turnovers. While the temptation to dribble past every single opponent is very hard to resist, not succumbing to it is the magic bullet in ensuring you drift closer to a win.
