The Game Awards 2024: The Biggest News & Announcements

The Game Awards 2024 live stream took place earlier today and it was full of games. The biggest announcements and reveals included DRAFT.

Intergalactic The Heretic Prophet

Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet is the newest franchise in development for the PlayStation 5 console from Naughty Dog, the studio behind acclaimed series like The Last of Us and UNCHARTED.

Set thousands of years in the future, Intergalactic puts players into the role of Jordan A. Mun, a dangerous bounty hunter who ends up stranded on Sempiria – a distant planet whose communication with the outside universe went dark hundreds of years ago. Jordan will have to use all her skills and wits if she hopes to be the first person in over 600 years to leave its orbit.

Onimusha Way Of The Sword

A brand new Onimusha game is coming in 2026 after decades of absence (since 2006’s Onimusha Dawn Of Dreams). Developed by Capcom, Onimusha Way Of The Sword is in development for the PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.

The Onimusha series by Capcom reawakens with Onimusha: Way of the Sword, a brand new title coming in 2026. Featuring epic sword fights, a lone samurai wields a sharpened blade and the Oni Gauntlet. Amidst the rush of battle and a deluge of blood, he ponders on his reason for fighting. Set in Kyoto in the early Edo period, the historic city has been transformed by the nefarious Malice with monstrous enemies known as “Genma” stalking the area around.

The Witcher 4 / The Witcher IV

The Witcher IV is an upcoming single-player open-world RPG from CD PROJEKT RED, the creators of Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. The beginning of a new saga, and a follow-up to one of the most acclaimed RPGs of all time, Ciri takes centre stage as the protagonist, embarking on her own journey to become a professional monster slayer.

There are no platforms or release dates yet.

Elden Ring Nightreign

Elden Ring Nightreign is a standalone adventure within the Elden Ring universe, crafted to bring a new gaming experience. Players will join forces with other players to take on the creeping night and the dangers within featuring three-player cooperative play

Elden Ring Nightreign launches on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC in 2025.

Borderlands 4

Borderlands 4 is a mayhem-fueled looter shooter, jam-packed with billions of weapons, outrageous enemies, and intense co-op action. Break free from a dangerous hidden planet as one of four new badass Vault Hunters.

Coming to the PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC sometime in 2025.

Okami 2

Confirmed to be in the works with Hideki Kamiya as director. No other details.

Mafia The Old Country

Uncover the origins of organized crime in Mafia: The Old Country, a gritty mob story set in the brutal underworld of 1900s Sicily. Fight to survive as Enzo Favara in this immersive third-person action-adventure.

Coming to PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC sometime in summer 2025.

Dispatch

Dispatch is a superhero workplace comedy where choices matter. Manage a dysfunctional team of misfit heroes and strategize who to send to emergencies around the city, all while balancing office politics, personal relationships, and your own quest to become a hero. Developed by AdHoc Studio.

Dispatch will be coming to PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and in 2025.

Meet the Baron, the man behind the experiments on Kyle Crane. He’s willing to do anything to pursue the greater good.

Development has started on a brand-new entry in the Virtua Fighter series from the studio behind Like A Dragon.

Split Fiction

Tekken 8 Final Fantasy XVI Clive Rosfield DLC

Final Fantasy XVI protagonist Clive Rosfield is coming to Tekken 8 as a DLC character on 16 December 2024.

Steel Hunters

Steel Hunters is a free-to-play, PvPvE shooter that has futuristic mech battles. Fight to collect rare loot on an abandoned Earth, and use combat tactics to turn rivals into scrap. Choose your Hunter and playstyle to battle 5 other duo teams.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth PC

Coming to PC on 23 January 2025.

New GenDesign Game (Developer Of ICO, Shadow Of The Colossus)

From the legendary studio behind Ico, Shadow of the Colossus, and The Last Guardian comes a new upcoming game. No other details revealed.

The Outer Worlds 2

The Outer Worlds 2 is the sequel to the award-winning first-person sci-fi RPG from Obsidian Entertainment. Get ready for an action-packed adventure in a new colony with an even newer crew and the newest graphics.

The Last Of Us Part 2 Remastered

Play Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us Part II Remastered, coming to PC for the first time on April 3, 2025. Bringing with it all the improvements and new modes from the PlayStation 5 version, like the roguelike survival mode No Return, Guitar Free Play, commentary, and more, Part II Remastered will allow players to experience Ellie and Abby’s acclaimed journeys, optimized and enhanced for PC.

Ninja Gaiden Ragebound

It’s been far too long since we had a pure 2D Ninja Gaiden title. And we’re blessed with such news at the start of The Game Awards 2024.

From the acclaimed team behind Blasphemous, NINJA GAIDEN: Ragebound successfully unites the classic lore and gameplay of the Tecmo-developed (now KOEI TECMO GAMES) NINJA GAIDEN series from the 8-bit era with the depth and intensity of the modern 3D entries. Killing Floor 3

Killing Floor 3 is coming in March 2025 with full crossplay between PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.

A new Sonic racing game featuring Shadow The Hedgehog. No other details revealed.

Screamer

Every Screamer must face the dark truth behind the most brutal racing showdown ever. Coming sometime in 2026.

Solasta II

Ambitious studio Tactical Adventures is making a sequel to its turn-based computer RPG. After selling 1.5 million copies with the series’ debut back in 2021, this ambitious studio will return next year with a grand sequel channelling the best elements of tabletop RPGs and boasting a menacing villain voiced by Amelia Tyler. It remains to be seen if the game will be using Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition rules like the previous title.

Solasta II will be out in 2025 for PC (Early Access).
