Infinix Powers Up MLBB Esports As Official Gaming Phone Partner

Some brands tiptoe into esports sponsorships, slap their logo on a banner, and call it a day. Infinix, however, has gone in with all the subtlety of a tank rolling through a flower shop. They’ve just signed a multi-year deal with MOONTON Games, officially crowning themselves the gaming smartphone partner for Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB).

This isn’t just a handshake agreement. Infinix is throwing its weight behind a whole series of tournaments across Southeast Asia, starting on 28 February. And leading the charge? Their GT series smartphones—because apparently, winning games isn’t just about skill anymore, but also about having a phone that can handle the sheer chaos of MLBB’s late-game team fights without melting.

A Phone That Won’t Surrender

If you’ve been living under a rock, MLBB is the undisputed titan of mobile esports in Southeast Asia, boasting over 100 million active players. That’s roughly the population of the Philippines, all pressing buttons furiously on their screens.

To make sure these tournaments don’t devolve into lag-ridden horror shows, Infinix has stepped up as the official supplier of tournament phones, backing major tournaments like:

  • MLBB Professional League (MPL) – Cambodia, Malaysia, Philippines
  • MLBB Development League (MDL) – Indonesia
  • MLBB Super League (MSL) – Myanmar

The GT 20 Pro will be the go-to device for the first half of 2025, before the GT 30 Pro takes over in the latter half. These phones have been subjected to more stress tests than an F1 engine—tournament simulations, heat management trials, and the ultimate endurance test: surviving the rage of a player who just lost a ranked match.

It’s Not Just About the Phones, Apparently

While Infinix could have just supplied the phones and called it a day, they’ve decided to go full community hero mode. Expect fan tournaments, meet-and-greets with MLBB pros, gaming masterclasses, and, of course, giveaways—because nothing gets gamers to pay attention quite like the promise of free stuff.

All of this is designed to build a proper esports ecosystem, where aspiring players get a taste of the pro scene without needing to remortgage their house for high-end gear.

MLBB Esports Just Got Even More Cutthroat

In case the stakes weren’t already high, Infinix’s involvement ensures that champions from four out of five sponsored leagues (excluding MDL Indonesia) will qualify for major MOONTON-sanctioned events, such as the MLBB Southeast Asia Cup (MSC) and the M-Series World Championship.

Translation? The level of competition is about to get even more ruthless. Which is exactly what esports should be.

Tony Zhao, Infinix’s CEO, put it best:

“We are thrilled to be part of the top-tier MLBB tournaments in Southeast Asia. Esports serves as a bridge that connects and inspires the next generation of players. Through this partnership, we aim to equip more players with Infinix’s high-performance devices, enhancing their gameplay and driving the continued evolution of the esports industry.”

Meanwhile, MOONTON’s Head of Regional Esports Sales, Adrian Cher, chimed in with:

“Infinix has democratised gaming by making cutting-edge gaming accessible to the next generation of mobile gamers. This aligns perfectly with our vision to elevate the mobile gaming and esports ecosystem through innovation and competitive excellence. We’re delighted to expand our partnership with them to continue bringing this shared ambition to life.”

At the end of the day, this isn’t just another sponsorship. Infinix isn’t here to participate. It’s here to dominate.
