Much Ado About Nothing (3a) Series
By Lewis Larcombe|March 10, 2025|0 Comment
Nothing has done it again. This time, they’ve taken their mid-range phone lineup, chucked in some fancy cameras, a beefier processor, and a design that screams “I’m different,” all while keeping that signature see-through aesthetic. Enter the Phone (3a) and Phone (3a) Pro—the latest in Nothing’s quest to make tech exciting again.
The Phone (3a) Series refines Nothing’s rebellious look with a more polished glass back, better structural symmetry, and a sleeker overall finish. It still proudly flaunts its internal components, but now with a touch more class. Oh, and it’s also more durable, boasting an IP64 rating, meaning it can handle splashes, dust, and maybe even your butterfingers. Impressively, it also clocks in as Nothing’s most eco-friendly phone to date, with the lowest carbon footprint in their lineup.
For years, mid-range phones have had cameras that promise big but deliver meh. The Phone (3a) Series looks to change that, packing in Nothing’s most advanced camera system yet.
Here’s where things get spicy.
Under the hood, the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 keeps things running fast and smooth. The CPU is 33% faster, graphics get an 11% boost, and AI tasks are 92% more efficient compared to the Phone (2a). Gaming? Faster. Multitasking? Better. Battery life? Improved.
Oh, and RAM Booster lets you access up to 20GB of RAM, so even if you’re the type to keep 100 apps open at once, your phone won’t break a sweat.
Both models pack a 5,000mAh battery, lasting up to two days. When you do need a top-up, 50W fast charging gives you 50% battery in under 20 minutes. That’s enough to last a full day unless you’re one of those people who scrolls endlessly through TikTok.
Both the Phone (3a) and (3a) Pro sport 6.77-inch Full HD+ screens, with 120Hz adaptive refresh rates for buttery-smooth scrolling. Gaming mode pushes the touch sampling rate up to 1000Hz, so if you lose a match, it’s definitely not because of lag.
Brightness? 3,000 nits peak brightness, making it 131% brighter than the Phone (2a). In other words, you won’t be squinting at your screen under the sun anymore.
Running on Android 15, Nothing OS 3.1 brings more customisation and AI smarts, along with an overhauled Nothing Gallery, Camera, and Weather apps. The new Essential Space feature acts as an AI-powered memory hub for saving notes, ideas, and inspirations on the go. And with the dedicated Essential Key on the side of the phone, you can access it in an instant.
In Malaysia, Phone (3a) and Phone (3a) Pro will be among the first available worldwide.
Pre-orders start March 8, with full availability on March 22 for the Phone (3a) and April 7 for the Phone (3a) Pro. If you’re feeling fancy, there’s even a limited early drop of the Phone (3a) Pro on March 22 via Nothing.tech.
So, is the Phone (3a) Series the mid-range king? It certainly looks the part. With a polished design, pro-grade cameras, and flagship-level software smarts, Nothing might have just made something really special.
