Superman (2025) Full Trailer Is Chock-Filled With Easter Eggs & Tributes

Warner Bros. has released the full version of its Superman (2025) trailer, with the film being directed by James Gunn (Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy, The Suicide Squad, Peacemaker, Creature Commandos) and is the first live-action film to jumpstart the new DC Universe. Go check it out below:
Yep, you can believe a man can fly, and also believe that David Corenswet can pull off being Superman AND Clark Kent, alongside Rachel Brosnahan (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel) doing a stand-up Lois Lane. But most importantly, there’s a lot of detail, references, and Easter Eggs to dig through. Here’s what we’ve found so far.
David Corenswet has two different voices for his dual identity: high-pitched for Clark and slightly deep and confident for The Man of Steel. This is a tribute to shows like My Adventures With Superman.
Appearing first in the animated Creature Commandos HBO MAX series, Rick Flag Sr (Frank Grillo) will be appearing in multiple DCU projects. In Superman, Rick Flag Sr. is the head of ARGUS, the US government agency that deals with superheroes and meta beings (or just beings).
His son, Rick Flag Jr, died in The Suicide Squad and was killed by Peacemaker. Rick Flag Sr. will be hunting him down in Peacemaker Season 2.
There’s a villain by the name of Engineer (Maria Gabriela de Faria) who goes about fighting Superman and is allied with Lex Luthor. This character is from the anti-hero comic book series The Authority; they’ll be getting an upcoming DCU movie.
A superhero from the old days, played by Anthony Carrigan (NoHo Hank from Barry). He can change his body to any element he wishes. As of now in the trailer, he seems to have Kryptonite in his body to keep Superman at bay.
We also see scenes of destruction caused by him and his powers.
In this new trailer we see the trio of Guy Gardner Green Lantern (Nathan Fillion), Hawkgirl (Isabela Merced), and Mr Terrific (Edi Gathegi) doing some superheroics. Turns out the trio are sponsored by Lordtech, run by Maxwell Lord (Sean Gunn) who will eventually become a supervillain like in the comics. Fun fact: Maxwell Lord also appeared in the Peacemaker Season 2 trailer.
As of now, the corporate-sponsored team are meant to prove that governments and corporations should control a superhero’s action. No doubt we’ll see the trio at odds against the Man of Steel who will be acting on his own accord and for good.
Lordtech is everywhere, most likely the movie’s equivalent of Google/Amazon’s major rival in Metropolis. The microphone recorder Lois Lane uses at the start is from Lordtech, while the stadium fight takes place in a Lordtech-owned field.
This villain shows up in the trailers quite a bit; he’s the armored dome-headed soldier with the laser beam attack. The place he’s from is Boravia, the country that was under attack before Superman stopped it.
If you blink, you’ll miss it: there are streets named after the surnames of two prolific writers who worked on DC Comics and Superman titles.
Lex Luthor’s girlfriend/assistant from the comics and 1978 Superman flick appears. She is played by Sara Sampaio.
The gossip columnist for the Daily Planet played by Mikaela Hoover. You’ve seen her in other DC shows like My Adventures with Superman and CW’s Supergirl.
Superman/Clark Kent has a poster of this fictional band in his Smallville home. You may remember this band since Frankenstein’s Monster from Creature Commandos wore it while fighting The Bride.
In one scene in the trailer, Mr Terrific and Lois Lane are seen in a dark space area with floating objects, coming out of a gold gateway tunnel/door. This is the Pocket Dimension, and is from DC’s Legion of Superheroes series set in a far, far future.
There’s a scene of this sort of area in Peacemaker Season 2’s trailer where Peacemaker finds his alternate counterpart. This may have future ramifications in upcoming DCU movies, and maybe leading up to a potential Legion of Superheroes inclusion (or standalone movie).
Both Choco’s and Big Belly Burger are iconic DC comics fictional brands. We see a Choco’s HQ getting lasered by the Hammer of Boravia…
…and a quick shot of a Big Belly Burger outlet.
Jitters Coffee seems new, but this ties in with the DCU movies and cinematic universe as there’s a Jitters Coffee in the Peacemaker show.
