Oscars Fan Favourite Poll Has Cinderella Leading Above Spider-Man No Way Home
In the past few years, the Academy Awards (or Oscars) have been suffering from their lowest ratings in a while, so what do they do to remedy that? Team up with Twitter and introduce a new unofficial category for the ceremony: the Oscars Fan Favourite award.
Basically, fans can now vote on Twitter for their favourite film of the year and the movie with the most votes will be announced at this year’s ceremony. Some may assume that either Spider-Man No Way Home or Justice League Snyder Cut would be a no-brainer for this award. However, a report from Deadline indicates that that might not be the case.
In a weird twist, Cinderella is seemingly leading the Twitter polls. I’m honestly not surprised, with the absurd number of trolls out there on social media. Why do I say that? The movie, which is streaming on Amazon Prime and stars singer Camilla Cabello in the starring role, currently has a 43 percent critics rating and 60 percent audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Take that as you will.
The 94th Academy Awards or Oscars will take place at 8 am GMT+8 on 28 March 2022.
