Daredevil & Kingpin Will Return In Marvel’s Echo TV Series

The Hawkeye spinoff Echo series is currently filming in Atlanta, Georgia, in the US, but details are already coming out about which characters will be appearing in the upcoming Disney+ Hotstar show.

According to a report by The Hollywood Reporter, Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio, who portrayed Matt Murdock AKA Daredevil and Wilson Fisk AKA The Kingpin, respectively, have joined the Echo series. Cox most recently reprised his role in 2021’s Spider-Man No Way Home while D’Onofrio’s was in 2021’s Hawkeye series. They both last appeared on-screen together in Daredevil Season 3 back in 2018.

Sources say the Echo series will include a plotline in which Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock AKA Daredevil will be searching out a former ally, who is said to be none other than Jessica Jones, who was portrayed by Krysten Ritter in three seasons on Netflix. If Ritter as Jones does appear in Echo, that would leave Luke Cage, Iron Fist and the Punisher as major characters still left to be reintroduced into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

The Echo series will follow Maya Lopez AKA Echo (Alaqua Cox), as her life in New York as a gang leader catches up with her and she returns to her hometown to reconnect with her Native American roots. We last saw her shooting Kingpin in the Hawkeye season finale after learning he was responsible for the death of her beloved uncle, William Lopez (Zahn McClarnon).

McClarnon will reprise his role, and other cast members include Chaske Spencer, Tantoo Cardinal, Devery Jacobs, Cody Lightning and Graham Greene. Sydney Freeland and Catriona McKenzie will direct episodes with Marion Dayre serving as head writer. The Echo series is expected to release sometime in 2023.

In the meantime, You can check out my previous breakdowns of Hawkeye Episodes 1 and 2, Episode 3, Episode 4, Episode 5, and Episode 6 here.
