Xbox Head Teases New Streaming Device In New Fallout 25th Anniversary Photo

Microsoft’s Head of Gaming Phil Spencer just took a new office photo, complete with a possible tease of a new device.

The photo on Twitter is basically to celebrate the Fallout series’ 25th anniversary, but closer inspection on the top right (next to the Kojima Productions Ludus statue) reveals a device that hasn’t been seen on any official Xbox promo photo.

It’s most likely Xbox’s upcoming Keystone streaming device, which enables players to stream Xbox games to TVs or monitors without the need for a console. The last time Xbox made any official announcement on the Keystone is back in May.

“As announced last year, we’ve been working on a game-streaming device, codename Keystone, that could be connected to any TV or monitor without the need for a console.

As part of any technical journey, we are constantly evaluating our efforts, reviewing our learnings, and ensuring we are bringing value to our customers. We have made the decision to pivot away from the current iteration of the Keystone device. We will take our learnings and refocus our efforts on a new approach that will allow us to deliver Xbox Cloud Gaming to more players around the world in the future.”

Could this be a subtle jab to the “success” of the Google Stadia, a service meant to stream gaming without a need for a console? In any case, we may need to keep an eye out if Keystone will deliver what was promised.
