CD Projekt Plans To Make More Transmedia Projects Thanks To Cyberpunk Edgerunners

It’s safe to say that the Studio Trigger anime Cyberpunk Edgerunners anime is 2022’s best show on Netflix right next to Better Call Saul and Arcane: League of Legends. So much so that publisher CD Projekt wants to experiment more.

The company that made the Cyberpunk 2077 video game adaptation of the Mike Pondsmith tabletop game plans to make further transmedia projects following the anime’s success. The anime came out in mid-September and was a hit for Netflix and CD Projekt, the latter of which received a boost in sales for Cyberpunk 2077. Here’s what CD Projekt SVP of business development Michal Nowakowski said in a recent third-quarter earnings call:

“[W]e have an appetite to do more in the transmedia [space], so in linear visual animation or live action, and those plans have not changed, so when we are ready you may expect to see more announcements in that regard coming from us.”

The show has hit Netflix’s top 10 lists in 19 countries due to its animation pedigree, storytelling, and loveable cast of characters. For more, check out our glowing review of the series.
