Atomic Heart: The Best Abilities & Glove Upgrades

Much like other action-adventure immersive first-person shooters out there, Atomic Heart lets you upgrade P-3 and his talking glove Char-les in dealing with the robot menace populating the utopia.

Here is a guide to the best skills and abilities you can get.

How To Get Skill Points

In Atomic Heart, you can get skill points called Neuropolymers from defeating enemies. The bigger the enemy, the more Neuropolymers you get. Once you feel like you’ve defeated enough foes, head to the red vending machine in the game’s many saferooms to get your upgrades sorted. Here are the best ones you should focus on.

Atomic Heart Best Abilities & Glove Upgrades

Shok

Your best default ability; will stick with you to the end.

Chain Lightning: Does as advertised – Lets you chain attack enemies with your default Shok ability.

Extended Topology: Increases AoE for Shok.

Full Contact: Expands AoE further.

Character

Your passive abilities and buffs. Very useful when surviving the robot apocalypse.

Athlete/Musclehead/Wild Boar: This upgrade buffs up your max health; pretty important in a game where you conserve bullets by going full melee and up-close.

Avatar/Bulwark: these upgrades give you resistance against elements and physical damage respectively.

Neuro-Compression Tactical Backpack: This increases how many items you can take with you in your backpack. If you’re a hoarder, this is great!

Morning Exercise/Parkour: This helps with movement, with the latter letting you press jump just before you land to not take fall damage.

Frostbite

Frost lets you slow down enemies and stop them from attacking temporarily.

Absolute Zero: This one deals heavy damage over time to frozen targets.

Careful Disassembly: Increases the number of items you can get from defeated frozen enemies. Great for farming materials for crafting and looting enemies.

Mass Telekinesis

Mass Telekinesis is useful to push enemies away if you need breathing room; perfect for the game’s higher difficulties.

Forced Fall Acceleration: This upgrade lets you slam lifted enemies down for heavy damage.

Increased Power: Self-explanatory – lets you lift up heavyweight enemies, including bosses!

Polymeric Jet

Not nearly as useful as the other abilities, but it does guarantee extra damage-over-time effects and has low cooldown times, meaning you can use it often.

High Viscosity: This upgrade slows down enemies.

Polymeric Shield

Kinetic Reflector Upgrade: The only defensive option in the game. This upgrade lets you block even critical attacks.

Med Unit Feedback: Blocking lets you gain back health.

Sponge Effect: Blocking lets you absorb energy.

Energy Management

You need energy to power up your most useful energy weapons in the game, like the Dominator plasma rifle.

Energy Density: Adds one more energy stock. Get both of them in the skill tree.

Energy Containment: Allows you to recharge more energy passively.

Greedy Guts: Melee attacks restore your energy. Very useful if you’re conserving bullets and using melee often. Which you should.
