The MCU X-Men Movie Is In Talks With Hunger Games Prequel Writer For The Project

The first X-Men movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) might finally be receiving a writer attached to the project to write the screenplay/script and it’s Michael Lesslie, according to a report by Deadline.

Who, you ask? Michael Lesslie is best known for writing the script for 2023’s Hunger Games The Ballad Of Songbirds And Snakes, 2015’s Macbeth, and unfortunately, 2016’s live-action Assassin’s Creed movie. He also wrote the script for the upcoming Now You See Me 3.

At the time of writing, there are no directors or actors attached to the X-Men project as of yet. The movie doesn’t even have a release date or release window yet, so it’s probably a couple of years away at least.

Perhaps we’ll get more details and information on Marvel Studios’ X-Men plans during San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) 2024 this July.

This news comes hot off the heels of the successful first season of the X-Men 97 animated series on Disney+ Hotstar.  In the meantime, check out my spoiler-free review of X-Men 97 by heading over here.
