X-Men 97 Episode 4 Breakdown & Easter Eggs
By Alleef Ashaari|April 3, 2024|1 Comment
The fourth episode of X-Men 97 is now streaming on Disney+ Hotstar Malaysia. Check out my spoiler-free review of X-Men 97 by heading over here.
Check out my breakdown of X-Men 97 Episodes 1 and 2 and Episode 3 here.
The synopsis reads:
The upcoming animated series revisits the iconic era of the 1990s as The X-Men, a band of mutants who use their uncanny gifts to protect a world that hates and fears them, are challenged like never before, forced to face a dangerous and unexpected new future. The voice cast includes Ray Chase as Cyclops, Jennifer Hale as Jean Grey, Alison Sealy-Smith as Storm, Cal Dodd as Wolverine, JP Karliak as Morph, Lenore Zann as Rogue, George Buza as Beast, AJ LoCascio as Gambit, Holly Chou as Jubilee, Isaac Robinson-Smith as Bishop, Matthew Waterson as Magneto and Adrian Hough as Nightcrawler.
X-Men The Animated Series originally aired on Fox Kids for 76 episodes across five seasons from 1992 to 1997. The series is currently available to stream on Disney+ Hotstar.
I’ll be discussing heavy spoilers so if you haven’t seen it or want to avoid spoilers, now’s your chance to stop reading.
X-Men Mutant Apocalypse was developed and published by Capcom for the SNES in 1994. In the game, players control five of the X-Men: Beast, Cyclops, Gambit, Psylocke, and Wolverine.
Mojo was already one of the villains featured in the original X-Men The Animated Series, but here’s a quick introduction: Mojo is one of the “Spineless Ones”, an alien race that is immobile without advanced technology. He is a slaver who rules the Mojoverse, a dimension where all beings are addicted to his gladiator-like television programs. He usually brings (read: kidnaps) heroes like the X-Men to be the ‘stars’ of his shows in the Mojoverse.
For some reason, he’s not fat anymore.
In a previous episode, Morph transformed into Magik. In this episode, we see Magik as one of the rosters in the Player Select screen in the fake Motendo game. However, Magik herself has yet to appear in the flesh in X-Men 97.
Simply titled X-Men, it was a side-scrolling beat ’em-up game produced and released by Konami for arcades in 1992.
In the comics, Abscissa is a variant future version of Jubilee who became a slave of Mojo.
In X-Men 97, she’s just a digital replica of Jubilee.
In that picture, from left to right: Pietro Maximoff AKA Quicksilver, Forge, Alex Summers AKA Havok, Lorna Dane AKA Polaris, Guido Carosella AKA Strong Guy, Rahne Sinclair AKA Wolfsbane and James Madrox AKA Multiple Man.
Which is the reason why he’s so adamant in helping Storm regain her powers.
The Adversary is a powerful demon who was initially summoned by Forge’s shamanic powers several decades ago during ‘the war’ and has been a recurring X-Men villain in the comics.
In the comics, he or it usually takes the form of a Native American man.
Until next week, true believers, excelsior!
