[Report] Nintendo Switch 2 Aims To Fix The Original System’s Biggest Flaws
The Nintendo Switch was released in 2017 and was known for being the best of both worlds: portable and docked at-home gaming with awesome Nintendo games. But it had a major problem: stick drift.
In a nutshell, stick drift is when your controller’s analogue stick eventually deteriorates and “drifts” even if it’s not being pressed and set in a neutral position. The Nintendo Switch JoyCons are infamously known for stick drift due to the quality of their analogue stick control material and circuitry. According to recent X threads and reports, that problem may be eliminated with the next Nintendo Switch console iteration.
Dubbed the Nintendo Switch 2, the console will feature a more powerful dock and magnetic JoyCon controllers. These new JoyCons will eliminate stick drift due to implementing magnetic Hall effect joysticks; this new tech does not contain the same wear-and-tear sensor materials as the previous JoyCons.
What Else Is In Store For Nintendo Switch 2?
In addition to a powerful dock and magnetic JoyCon controllers using Hall effect joysticks, the Nintendo Switch 2 will include a dock featuring two USB-A, one HDMI, one ethernet, and one USB-C.
The Nintendo Switch 2 also sports a larger 8-inch screen. The Nintendo Switch 2 dock is rated for 60W while the console is 45W; combined, they can handle more power than the original console. Below is what the Nintendo Switch 2 might look like.
