Mina The Hollower Walkthrough & Boss Guide
Yacht Club Games’ new title Mina The Hollower is out now, and it’s as good as people say it is. Imagine The Legend of Zelda combined with FromSoftware difficulty mechanics but also its own anthropomorphic animal steampunk universe, and that’s the game in a nutshell.
It’s also difficult as heck, as Mina The Hollower does not hold your hand and leaves you to your own devices. Once you’ve visited the orphanage and fought the bat knight boss once, you can go wherever with your current abilities. It seems overwhelming at first, but part of the fun is just discovering things on your own.
Here are some tips before we dish out the full video walkthroughs for each of the major dungeons.
-If you have no idea where to go, read the newspaper and talk to Newsie in Ossex. The headline will tell you the general direction and objective.
-Every secret in the game is hinted through dialogue, the in-game manual you can access any time, and elsewhere.
-The Gyro Dagger can be rebounded using your weapon; strike it during its return to turn it to a makeshift boomerang. (via Boomstick Gaming)
-The Axe can hit objects blocked by obstacles Mina cannot jump or burrow under. See a treasure chest blocking your path? Just use the Axe to throw it over. You can also juggle the Axe by jumping and hitting it. (via Boomstick Gaming)
-There is no shame in using the game’s modifiers(mods) if you feel overwhelmed by the game’s difficulty. It’s your play session, right?
