Alicia Vikander Returns As Tomb Raider With A New Director

Last year’s Tomb Raider movie was a draggy mess that didn’t do anything noteworthy and it barely made enough money to break even. So it’s not surprising at all to find out that Warner Brother Pictures has decided not to be a part of the sequel.

Enter Ben Wheatley, a British film director known for his films Kill List and Free Fire. He’s been chosen to direct the Tomb Raider sequel alongside the movie’s writer, his wife Amy Jump. Alicia Vikander will be returning to portray Lara Croft.

Filling in the producer slot, Graham King will be funding the movie through his GK Films banner, together with Elizabeth Cantillon. Production on the sequel is expected to begin in early 2020.
