Gears Tactics’ Launch Trailer Shows Us What To Expect

In a couple more weeks, you’ll be able to experience Gears of War‘s Locust-killing and chainsawing from a new perspective. The turn-based Gears Tactics is launching on 28 April 2020 (on Steam, Xbox Game Pass for PC (Beta), and Windows 10), and a new trailer is here to show you what it’s all about.

Set 12 years before the first Gears of War, Gears Tactics will have you commanding a squad of COG troops in pursuit of a Locust leader called Ukkon. Instead of the usual third-person cover shooter gameplay, you’ll be fighting Locusts and Brumaks via a more XCOM-like experience.

It’s a little more aggressive than a typical turn-based tactics game, however, since getting up close to execute enemies rewards you with more actions. The trailer promises lots of rewards and customization, as well as familiar weapons and executions. There will also be no microtransactions, which is always nice to hear.

If you want to know more about the game, our Jon Leo had a good look at it last month. If you’re already sold, the game can be pre-installed now.
