Paris Games Week 2020 Is Cancelled
Yet another video game event has been cancelled due to the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic and this time it’s the Paris Games Week 2020. It was originally scheduled to run from 23 to 27 October 2020.
It’s worth pointing out that this is the first major event in October 2020 to be officially cancelled. Now, Paris Games Week 2020 organizers S.E.L.L. (Syndicat des Editeurs de Logiciels de Loisirs) are instead planning and putting their efforts towards next year’s Paris Games Week 2021.
The Paris Games Week team’s full statement from the official website reads:
Dear players,
It is with great emotion that we have made the difficult decision to cancel Paris Games Week, initially scheduled from 23rd to 27th October and which would have marked our 10th anniversary.
The current context and the necessary anticipation of both the technical and logistical complexities of an event such as Paris Games Week have led us to cancel this edition.
This year should have been special, with a line-up full of new releases, and an anniversary edition which we were thrilled to celebrate with you.
We are going to work with all the industry players to enable us all to live our passion.
We are already preparing next year’s edition and are looking forward to seeing you again.
Other game events that have also been cancelled, postponed, or turned into digital events due to COVID-19 include E3 2020, Gamescom 2020, EVO 2020, QuakeCon 2020, and Taipei Game Show 2020.
