PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds Now Available on Mobile Worldwide

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds on mobile is now available worldwide. After less than a week going on a trial run in North America following months of limited availability in the Chinese market, the massively popular crawling simulator battle royale/ survival game is now available on mobile devices worldwide for both Apple and Android devices.

Worried you won’t be able to play it on your phone? Well, we tested the game on our three-year-old Google Nexus 6 and it ran fine albeit on lower settings. It is safe to say any mid-tier phone released within the past three years should be able to run it. Then again, the game isn’t the prettiest even on highest setting when on PC anyway.

And as expected, the game drains the battery heavily and does put a massive strain on your phone’s processing as we noticed slight drop in responsiveness and heat buildup on the iPhone 7 which we also tested the game on.

To the uninitiated, the core for the game is all about survival and out-witting your opponents – and who’s best at playing hide-and-seek. Controls-wise, it’s pretty much similar to other third-person shooter games on mobile with the left thumb controlling players movement and you swipe about to pan and direct where your character is facing. If you tested the Chinese-market exclusive then it’s pretty much the same.

With Fortnite: Battle Royale being available on mobile soon in addition to its cross-play capabilities across different platforms, the release of PUBG mobile can’t be any more timelier as publishers Bluehole and Tencent sought to close the gap with their rivals.

You can download the game from the Google Play Store here or the Apple Store for free.
