Extended Edition Of In This Corner Of The World Coming To Japanese Theaters
By Burhan Zamri|October 14, 2019|0 Comment
Back in 2016, the world was graced by a beautiful World War II anime film titled In This Corner of the World (Kono Sekai no Katasumi ni). It made a lot of us cry. Well, get ready to cry again because an extended version is coming out.
A new trailer for an extended edition of the film was recently released, featuring new scenes and even a character that appeared in the original manga but didn’t make it into the 2016 release. Some of the new scenes will flesh out the friendship between the main character Suzu Hono and Rin Shiraki, one of the courtesans at the courtesan house Futabakan.
[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=clpf5BXrpzc&w=560&h=315]With 30 minutes of newly-animated footage, the extended edition will run for 150 minutes long compared to the original’s 129 minutes. It’s also titled differently, this time it will be released as In This Corner (and Other Corners) of the World or in Japanese: Kono Sekai no (Sara ni Ikutsumono) Katasumi ni. I have to admit, even the title makes me feel melancholic.
It’s scheduled to hit Japanese theaters on 20 December 2019. Here’s hoping it will be shown in Malaysia, Singapore, and perhaps even worldwide in the future.
Thanks, Crunchyroll.
