CS:GO Will Now Feature An Auto-Mute System

Good news for players who are tired of dealing with trolls, griefers, and abusive players in their group-based bout in Counterstrike: Global Offensive (CS:GO). Valve will be working on a new system that will help cut down in-game abuse more “precisely” than current tools.

Players who receive “significantly more abuse reports” than others will be given a warning. If the abuse reports continue at a high rate, they will be automatically muted by all other players by default. Other players will be able to unmute them if they wish. However, the muted-by-default state will remain in place until offenders earn enough XP to remove the penalty.

This is all driven by algorithms, with reports being weighted based on each account’s playtime and reporting frequency. “Because the new system is driven by reports,” said Valve, “it lets players establish their own standards for communication and ensure that their fellow players receive anonymous feedback when they’re out of line.”

If you want to help out, just use the “Abusive Communications or Profile” option the next time you’re teamed up with a c*** of a player.
