Star Trek Discovery Season 3 Finishes Filming, Says Series Legend

It’s been almost a year since Star Trek Discovery Season 2 ended, and we still don’t know much about the upcoming Season 3.

In a now-deleted post by Jonathan Frakes (best known for his portrayal of William T. Riker in Star Trek The Next Generation), the Star Trek veteran and legend revealed that Star Trek Discovery has finished filming and production as of today on 24 February 2020. We’d love to share it but posting it up here risks us getting flagged again so you’ll just have to take our word for it.

In addition, alleged key art of Star Trek Discovery Season 3 was supposedly leaked last week (which can be seen in Frakes’ now-deleted tweet). We did cover the leak but our article has since been taken down by DMCA ruling due to copyright infringement claims by Star Trek IP owner CBS.

It looks like the same thing has likely happened to Frakes’ tweet as well. Perhaps CBS doesn’t want to officially reveal anything as of yet, so they must have told him to delete the tweet, merely hours after it was posted. If it was taken down on behest of CBS, it probably means that it’s true.

Plus, Commander/Captain Riker wouldn’t lie, would he?

Besides playing Riker in Star Trek The Next Generation, Frakes has also directed many episodes and movies in the Star Trek franchise over the years. This makes him a legend in Trekkie/Trekker circles, which in turn makes him a credible source for all things Trek.

It’s bizarre that CBS is keeping a tight lid on everything related to Star Trek Discovery. Case in point; there isn’t even an international version of the Star Trek Discovery Season 3 trailer available for viewing on YouTube at the time of writing, despite the fact that it was initially unveiled at New York Comic-Con 2019 back in October last year.

It’s not like Star Trek Discovery is even that good, anyway. It’s probably like The Last Jedi or The Rise Of Skywalker of Star Trek at this point. Do yourselves a favour and watch the vastly-superior Star Trek Picard instead.

If it is true that Star Trek Discovery Season 3 has wrapped up filming, we could be seeing a release date pretty soon, perhaps sometime later this year. Star Trek Picard is set to end its first season by the end of March, so the earliest possible time for Star Trek Discovery Season 3 is April 2020 onwards.
