Overwatch League 2019 MVP Sinatraa Is Moving To Valorant

One of the Overwatch League’s top esports athletes and the 2019 Overwatch World Cup champion, Jay “Sinatraa” Won, has announced that he is leaving Blizzard’s arena shooter to start competing in Riot Games’ new multiplayer shooter, Valorant.

Sinatraa has joined the Sentinels, where he will be leading the esports organization’s new Valorant team.

He recently led his team to victory in the 2019 Overwatch League Grand Finals and was awarded MVP of the 2019 season. He also led Team USA to their first-ever victory in the Overwatch World Cup, where he was also named MVP.

He has since published a post on TwitLonger, in which he explained why he was leaving Overwatch for Valorant. According to Sinatraa, he has “lost his passion” for Overwatch and wasn’t having fun anymore, which he attributes to the “2-2-2 lock and bans”.

He proceeded to thank his previous team, San Francisco Shock, and left personal messages for each of his ex-team members. In a statement on Sentinels’ official website, Sinatraa said:

“The move to Valorant is no doubt a huge step in my career, and I couldn’t be more excited about the opportunity.

When I saw the team that Sentinels has put together, with so much experience from different esports, I knew that this was the right place to go and I’m excited to be at the front of it.

To all my fans who have supported me over the years, the future feels really bright right now and I can’t wait to show everyone what we can do.”

Despite being one of the most popular games right now, Valorant remains in closed beta as of now, and Riot Games has yet to announce plans for a professional or official esports league for the game. However, the developer already has plenty of experience with League Of Legends esports, so it’ll only be a matter of time until Valorant enters the scene.
