Riot Games Will Open New Game Development Studio In Singapore
By Jonathan Toyad|April 18, 2020|0 Comment
Good news, budding Singaporean game developers and technical experts. Riot Games is opening a new development studio in Singapore.Â
The Singapore studio will be focusing on upcoming games while also supporting existing titles like League of Legends. This office’s dev team will be lead by studio head Nathan Beemer. The studio will open officially later this year, but right now, the company is hiring positions for League of Legends, Legends of Runeterra, Valorant, and its upcoming fighting game codenamed Project L.
Examples of roles include 3D Art Lead for Project L, Character Concept Art Lead for Project L, and Environmental Art Lead for Project L. Yeah, I’m kinda fixated on Project L, but this is probably the only time I’ll ever be interested in League of Legends’ copy-pasta lore.
This marks the second time the company has opened a new development studio in Asia; the first was in Hong Kong back in 2016. Here’s the official statement about Singapore’s soon-to-happen office.
“We’ve been blown away by our Hong Kong studio’s performance and that success has encouraged us to continue expanding our presence in Asia. As we invested resources in the region, we recognized that launching a studio in Singapore while maintaining a strong presence in Hong Kong will accelerate the development of new games across the entire company.
Having multiple studios in Asia will enable us to grow our development teams while ensuring we continue to create awesome experiences for players. We’re looking forward to what the future holds.”
