We’re Getting A Saved By The Bell Reboot, Whether You Want It Or Not

The Saved By The Bell TV series in the late 80s and early 90s is quite a pop culture treasure of a sitcom. It was harmless, disposable entertainment that occasionally had some social commentary and spawned a million high school sitcom clones.

Oh, and it also led to the creation of Funny Or Die’s Zack Morris is Trash series, my current online jam right now when I’m not typing up news like these on a goddamn Saturday.

Anyway, Saved By The Bell is getting a 2020 reboot, featuring returning cast members Mario Lopez and Elizabeth “Showgirls” Berkley as Slater and Jessie respectively. Slater is a gym coach in Bayside High School while Jessie is a mom to one of the new kids in Bayside.

Speaking of kids, there’s no sign of prankster & human douche Zack Morris, though we get to see his son in action in the trailer above. Watching Slater reminisce about the good old days is going to be the show’s schtick. Let’s hope it’s not its only hook.
