Ubisoft Singapore Managing Director Ousted From Position & Skull And Bones
By Jonathan Toyad|November 19, 2020|0 Comment
Hugues Ricour, the managing director of Ubisoft Singapore which is handling the development of Skull And Bones, has been removed from his position following a leadership audit conducted a few weeks ago.
According to an internal memo from Ubisoft chief studios operating officer Virginie Haas (leaked to Kotaku), Hugues is no longer in charge of the Singapore team.
“Effective immediately, Hugues Ricour is no longer Managing Director of Ubisoft Singapore. The results of the leadership audit that was conducted in the last few weeks by our external partners makes it impossible for him to continue in this position.”
Why is that? Well, a previous report on Ubisoft’s culture of abuse listed the former managing director as one of the folks responsible for perpetuating said culture in the Singapore branch. Huges was accused of sexual harassment and unacceptable work behaviour involving “bullying, demeaning comments, and retaliatory action” in those reports.
Hugues will be continuing on with the company, but will be leaving Ubisoft Singapore. A spokesperson from Ubisoft said the following:
“We can confirm that Hugues Ricour is both stepping down from his role as MD and also leaving the Singapore studio, but will remain at Ubisoft”.
