Riot Announces 2021 League Of Legends Wild Rift Southeast Asia Icon Series Preseason

Riot Games Southeast Asia has announced the League Of Legends Wild Rift Southeast Asia Icon Series: Preseason, a five weekend-long regional tournament. The seven location-specific tournament circuits, where teams will be competing for the title of local champion, will showcase the greatness and skill of Wild Rift players and teams across Southeast Asia.

After preseason, players in the region have a chance to compete in the Wild Rift Southeast Asia Icon Series: Summer season, an eight-week-long competition where any team may join to compete to be the best in their region and go onto our pan-regional tournaments to compete to be the first regional champions. 

Riot Games Southeast Asia, Hong Kong, and Taiwan Head Of Esports Chris Tran said:

“The Southeast Asia Icon Series is our first step to grow League of Legends: Wild Rift into a regional esport worthy of our players’ passion and skills.

We want our fans to feel proud of the  local talent who will represent the region in the Wild Rift Southeast Asia Icon Series.

We are extremely excited to launch the first Wild Rift esports series with the following regional partners – Cyber Games Arena, ESL Asia, Mineski, One Up, Eliphant, and VNG.

With them, we aim to  showcase the quality of performance, level of creativity and sheer resilience of the teams who will shape the competitive scene across Southeast Asia.

We hope that teams and fans alike will enjoy this tailored experience of high-stakes Wild Rift competition.”

The Wild Rift Southeast Asia Icon Series: Preseason will kick off on 26 February 2021, and features three-day long weekend tournaments in the Philippines, Vietnam, Thailand, Taiwan, Malaysia,  Indonesia, and Singapore.

Dates And Locations

The full list of dates for each regional tournament is listed below - 

  • Vietnam (VNG) 
    • Tournament dates: 26 to 28 February 2021
  • Malaysia (ESL) 
    • Tournament dates: 6 to 7 March 2021
  • Taiwan (Cyber Games Arena) 
    • Tournament dates: 11 to 14 March 2021
  • Thailand (ESL) 
    • Tournament dates: 13 to 14 March 2021
  • The Philippines (PPGL) 
    • Tournament dates: 20 to 21 March 2021
  • Indonesia (One Up) 
    • Tournament dates: 19 to 21 March 2021
  • Singapore (Eliphant) 
    • Tournament dates: 26 to 28 March 2021

Pro Teams

The League of Legends: Wild Rift SEA Icon Series: Preseason will also feature appearances from seasoned players and teams. The following teams are confirmed to make an appearance during the tournament: 

  • Indonesia – Alter Ego, Onic 
  • Malaysia – Berjaya Dragons, TODAK 
  • The Philippines – Bren Esports, RRQ PH, Team Secret 
  • Singapore – The Alliance 
  • Taiwan – Flash Wolves, ONE Team, TXO 
  • Thailand – King of Gamers Club 
  • Vietnam – V Gaming, Saigon Phantom, SBTC Esports 

The full list of teams will be announced at a later date, along with information on where to watch the matches. 

The Wild Rift SEA Icon Series will be the first tournament produced by Riot Games Southeast  Asia in partnership with our regional partners and will be an important foundational step to establishing the regional legacy Southeast Asian players and teams can bring to the global mobile MOBA esports scene.
