This Job Listing Indicates That Xbox Might Finally Expand Further Into Southeast Asia
By Alleef Ashaari|January 26, 2022|0 Comment
It’s been a longtime dream of many gamers in the Southeast Asian region (outside of Singapore) to finally receive that sweet official regional support for Xbox consoles and services.
We might be one step closer to that happening, as Microsoft is currently looking Global Expansion Incubator Manager for the Southeast Asian region in a new job listing via Linkedin.
The job description states the following:
Xbox is seeking an experienced individual to join the newly-established Global Expansion Incubator team to grow our content acquisition pipeline and strategic partnerships in the regional markets.
This manager will lead efforts in engaging with local gaming content creators and closely partner with internal stakeholders to achieve globalization of Xbox.
The keywords here are that this Global Expansion Incubator team is “newly-established” and its purpose is for growth in the “regional markets”. Anyone who gets the job will have to engage “local gaming content creators” and more to “achieve globalization of Xbox”.
How does one “achieve globalization”? By expanding to more regional markets, of course. Last year in 2021, we already had the Xbox Singapore Facebook account renaming and rebranding itself as Xbox SEA, including having localised translations for live streams in Malay and Thai.
However, like always, there’s nothing concrete or official here as of yet. Plus, the job listing is located for working somewhere in Singapore, so it might just be an expansion of the Singaporean team. Perhaps one day Xbox will expand to more Southeast Asian regions beyond just Singapore, but it will likely be further in the future.
In the meantime, stay tuned on Kakuchopurei. You can head on over here for our thoughts and review of both the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S.
