Ubisoft just announced that its open-world action-adventure title Watch Dogs: Legion will not be getting future updates, with update 5.6 being its last.

To recap, Watch Dogs: Legion has received about a year and a half’s worth of DLC and extra content post-launch, including new multiplayer modes and story DLC featuring the first Watch Dogs’ protag Aiden Pearce. The final new multiplayer season Stripes will be out as planned.

So what’s next? The game will enter an end-of-life mode for multiplayer, cycling through previous seasons indefinitely. Here’s the official statement from Ubisoft:

“The current season 4 Rebels track, containing 80 ranks, will run until January 22, 2022, followed by Season 5 Stripes. After that, Seasons 3-5 will continue to cycle and return to the game, giving you the opportunity to acquire rewards you might have missed out on in the past. Some rewards to look forward to are a modified version of Aiden Pearce’s jacket, and Jackson’s mask and clothing set.”

Seems like a natural course of action, given that the Watch Dogs games have always been more a single-player title than one with multiplayer-focused possibilities.
