Time for some good old sports smack talk.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino has stated on record that it is making its own FIFA game series, and it will challenge EA’s established dominance. He said that he has plans to create a new series of football games that will be superior to EA’s series, setting a new standard for football games. Here’s what the FIFA president said during his victory speech after being re-elected as FIFA’s president (via Times sports reporter Martyn Ziegler):

“The new FIFA game – the FIFA 25, 26, 27 and so on – will always be the best e-game for any girl or boy. We will have news on this very soon.

I can assure you that the only authentic, real game that has the FIFA name will be the best one available for gamers and football fans. The FIFA name is the only global, original title. FIFA 23, FIFA 24, FIFA 25 and FIFA 26, and so on – the constant is the FIFA name and it will remain forever and remain THE BEST.”

It seems that the next FIFA-branded football game that’s sanctioned by the group may only be out in 2024 if the above state seems to allude as such.

For those who don’t know, EA has lost its license to FIFA after its expiration last year. The company will be rebranding its series as EA Sports FC starting July 2023. FIFA 23 is the last EA football game to use the FIFA name, ending the 30-year partnership.
