LEGO Teases Plans To Release Donkey Kong Sets
Exciting news from the world of Super Mario and LEGO. LEGO has given us a little tease about their plans to launch a series of Donkey Kong sets. Last month, LEGO announced that they were bringing Donkey Kong to their Super Mario universe. They had also confirmed that a Donkey Kong figure would be coming out this summer, but it wasn’t clear whether there would be a jungle set or something similar to go along with it.

Now, LEGO has tweeted a teaser video with the message, “We can’t wait to show you the new additions to the world of LEGO Super Mario!” The video shows various Kong characters, including Diddy, Cranky, and Funky, with the tagline, “There’s a Kong in every kid.” It also says that each set is sold separately.
Speaking of the Kong family, they played a big role in the recently released Super Mario Bros. Movie, which has been a huge success. It’s currently on track to generate over $1 billion globally! The creator of Mario, Shigeru Miyamoto, spoke to the Japanese press ahead of the movie’s debut in Nintendo’s home country this week. He discussed the movie’s reception, which he admitted had been mixed among critics. However, he also acknowledged that it had exceeded his expectations in terms of success.
Miyamoto stated, “You need some luck to achieve this level of success for a film. While many foreign critics have given the movie relatively low ratings, I think that also contributed to the movie’s notoriety and buzz.”
