Publishers SEGA and Atlus and developer Vanillaware have revealed additional details about the highly anticipated strategy RPG, Unicorn Overlord. The game introduces companions that players can recruit alongside their journey as well as features a Rapport system. This allows players to foster deeper connections with their companions.

Gilbert (Voiced by Mitsuki Saiga)

“You’ve quite the grand vision for yourself, seeking to unify the entire continent.”

In the absence of the late king, who tragically perished in battle against Zenoira, Gilbert covertly organizes and prepares his troops in order to reclaim his kingdom.

Virginia (Voiced by Aya Endo)

” Today… the Knights of the Rose have their vengeance!”

She is Ilenia’s niece and one of the very few survivors of the Cornian royal family. In Alain’s eyes, she is like an older sister. In the aftermath of the tumultuous events that unfolded in Cornia, she sought refuge in the haven of Drakenhold.

Berengaria (Voiced by Asami Seto)

“I told you plain, I don’t want you near me. Now go home and bury yourself in your beloved books, why don’t you?”

Berengaria is the formidable warrior who founded and transformed the Tricorn Mercenaries into a respected fighting force. After abruptly disbanding the group one day, she disappeared without a trace.

Aramis (Voiced by Ryotaro Okiayu)

“And I, a simple wanderer. You can call me… Aramis.”

A mercenary hailing from Drakenhold has been employed by the Zenoiran Army. Despite his uncommonly refined speech pattern for a mercenary, there is no doubting the exceptional skill he possesses as a swordsman.

Rapport System

Rapport plays a crucial role in fostering the bond between characters. When a relationship reaches a specific level, rapport conversations can occur between certain characters. By engaging in various activities, such as combat or sharing meals, players can strengthen their connections with their companions.

As the bond between characters deepens, special conversations become possible, offering players the opportunity to unlock bonuses such as increased might when in the same unit.

Rapport Bonus

Fighting together in the same unit fosters a heightened level of rapport, and forming a unit with characters who possess strong rapport can unlock Rapport Bonuses.

Taverns

Rapport can also be enhanced when dining in taverns situated within cities or other locations. Seating characters together can contribute to boosting their rapport. However, the number of people able to dine together and the amount of rapport that can be acquired will depend on the specific menu options.

Giving Gifts

Players can bestow presents upon characters assigned as guards, and this act will positively influence their rapport with Alain. However, if the player selects a favoured item for the gift, the boost in rapport will be even more significant.

Rite of Covenant

When Alain establishes a high level of rapport with a companion, he possesses the ability to bestow upon them a special ring. However, it is imperative to note that this exclusive ring can only be presented to one individual.

Unicorn Overlord will be out for PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch on 8 March 2024.
