Fullmetal Alchemist is a popular Japanese manga and anime series created by Hiromu Arakawa. It was first serialized in Square Enix’s “Monthly Shonen Gangan” magazine from 2001 to 2010. Since then, it has gained a dedicated following and has since become one of the most beloved and celebrated manga and anime franchises.
The story unfolds in a fictional realm where alchemy is revered as a widely studied and practised science. The primary narrative revolves around two brothers, Edward and Alphonse Elric, who embark on an ill-fated endeavour to revive their deceased mother through the magic of alchemy. However, their forbidden experiment takes a dire turn, resulting in tragic consequences. Edward, the older brother, loses his left leg, while Alphonse, the younger sibling, loses his physical form entirely.
In a desperate bid to save his brother’s life, Edward sacrifices his right arm to bind Alphonse’s soul to a suit of armour. This heart-wrenching event ignites a quest within the brothers to locate the Philosopher’s Stone, a mythical artifact believed to possess the miraculous ability to restore their bodies.
