Supernatural Online Co-Op Action Kemuri Unveils Gameplay & More In Dev Diary

Developer UNSEEN has shared new details about its highly anticipated “supernatural online cooperative action player-versus-enemy game” called Kemuri. The team unveiled a seven-minute video that showcases the art style, movement, world, and gameplay aspects of the game. The video is narrated by each team member, expressing their expertise and passion.

Kemuri is Ikumi Nakamura’s first independent project, founder and studio head of UNSEEN. The game’s name, Kemuri, translates to “smoke” in Japanese, and it reflects the core concept. Players will take on the role of Yokai hunters, using their Fox Window to spot and battle Yokai, which are supernatural beings. The Yokai are divided into two factions: good ones and bad ones. By defeating the bad ones, players will acquire them and unlock their power. This ability to collect various Yokai adds high replay value to Kemuri.

However, players should be cautious when using the Fox Window. Enemies have a way of detecting when it is used, so players must carefully select the right moment to utilize this to their advantage. This strategic element adds an extra layer of challenge to Kemuri, making it even more engaging for players.

The game offers players the choice of engaging in it solo, with friends, or with other players online. The developers have emphasized that the unique movement of the characters is a notable feature of the game. The characters are designed in such a manner that they exhibit a distinct animation style as well as innovative gameplay mechanics. This unique design allows players to interact with the environment more freely.

Kemuri emphasizes flexibility, allowing players to express themselves freely and play the game the way they prefer. Throughout the journey, players will explore this enigmatic world, confront the nature of death, uncover hidden truths, and experience the repercussions of their choices in both their mortal lives and the afterlife.

Kemuri is currently in development. However, it has not yet been officially announced which platforms it will be available on or when the game will be released.
