Concord Implodes. Only Shipping 25,000 Units

Despite its PlayStation backing, Concord has faced significant challenges, selling only about 25,000 copies across Steam and PlayStation platforms. Analyst Simon Carless of GameDiscoverCo reported to IGN that the game has moved roughly 10,000 units on Steam and around 15,000 on PlayStation.

Although PlayStation doesn’t usually disclose specific sales data, Concord’s performance on Steam reveals its difficulties. Currently, only 70 players remain active in-game. The title has garnered just over 700 reviews on Steam, with 512 being positive and 220 negative, reflecting a mixed reception.

According to VGC, Circana analyst Mat Piscatella adds to the game’s woes, noting that Concord ranked 147th in daily active PS5 players in the US, capturing less than 0.2% of Monday’s active player base. Despite its potential, Concord is struggling to make a significant impact.

This news comes as no surprise to me as you may have seen my review on Concord was released earlier today. I mentioned that, while the game had potential, it fell short in several key areas. The uninspired character designs, lack of a defining game mode, and poor optimization were just some of my critiques.

The disappointing sales and low player numbers only reinforce what I observed in my review—Concord, despite its promise, fails to meet the expectations of a “AAA” title, and its struggle to find an audience reflects that. For a game that could have revitalised the arena shooter genre, it, unfortunately, lands with a thud rather than a bang.
