Disney Sheathes The Blade Movie Indefinitely, Replaces It With The New Predator Movie
After years of development hell, Disney and Marvel Studios have delayed their Blade movie indefinitely and now the Blade movie officially has no definitive release date anymore (via Deadline).
However, the Blade movie release date (7 November 2025) will be replaced with the latest entry in the Predator franchise, and the follow-up to 2022’s Prey, which will be Predator Badlands.
The Blade movie was originally announced all the way back at San Diego Comic-Con in 2019 with Mahershala Ali starring as the titular character. However, in the years since, two directors have left the project (Bassam Tariq and Yann Demange). Mia Goth is set to play supervillian Lilith.
Meanwhile, Predator Badlands is directed by Dan Trachtenberg, who directed the previous Predator movie, 2022’s Prey. Predator Badlands will star Elle Fanning in the lead role and will be set sometime in the future.
Prey is available to watch on Disney+ Hotstar Malaysia.
The synopsis reads:
Set in the Comanche Nation 300 years ago, Prey is the story of a young woman, Naru, a fierce and highly skilled warrior. She has been raised in the shadow of some of the most legendary hunters who roam the Great Plains, so when danger threatens her camp, she sets out to protect her people.
The prey she stalks, and ultimately confronts, turns out to be a highly evolved alien predator with a technically advanced arsenal, resulting in a vicious and terrifying showdown between the two adversaries.
Courtesy of Disney+ Hotstar, we were given the opportunity to interview Prey director Dan Trachtenberg and producer Jhane Myers back in 2022. Also, head on over here for our review of Prey.
