Samsung Galaxy S26 FE Unveiled; FE Discovers Its Identity

Ever since their debut, Samsung’s “FE” (Fan Edition) phones have sparked identity confusion—not just for buyers, but seemingly for Samsung itself. The dilemma is obvious: how do you position a device that sits just below the ultra-premium S-tier flagships without completely cannibalizing the mid-range Galaxy A-series?

This has proven to be a challenge for us techies – so just imagine how confusing it is for the masses.

However, with the S26 FE, Samsung not only have found that specific niche for this year’s FE device, they may have also revealed part of their playbook in the upcoming years.

In their most recent, and mostly low-key affair Unpacked event, Samsung unveiled this year’s rendition of the FE range and to the surprise of none, it looked very similar to its brethren in the S26 lineup.

Indistinguishable to only Samsung Specialty Shop Sales Assistants and those who memorize the color releases for each model, the FE blends seamlessly into the pack. HOWEVER, under the hood lies several tricks which may even sway a potential buyer from the base, Plus or even the Ultra.

One of the coolest features and made specific for the recently released Z Fold devices is the My FanCam; a software-led system which helps users track specific individuals in their videos, then editing it into a highlight reel.

To date, the only way to get hold of this feature is by owning a Z Fold 8/ 8 Ultra. Even the top-shelf S26 Ultra does not have it.  Speaking of the S26 Ultra, one of the key selling feature in that device was the Horizontal Lock; a stabilisation feature which keeps the video level despite rigorous shaking and tilting.

Samsung’s key value proposition for the S26 FE is ‘accessible ownership’ and with a starting price of RM2,499 for a 8GB/128GB  model, owning an S-tier Samsung device is more affordable than ever. Should you have some extra cash to spend, the model with the 256GB and 512GB variations are also available at RM2,799 and RM3,399.

The S26 FE will be released in three colours; Pistachio, Graphite and Blueberry. Or in layman’s speak; light green, grey and blue.

Often regarded as the gateway for mid-tier users entering Samsung’s flagship S-tier ecosystem, this year’s FE appears to best representation of the ‘Affordable Excellence’ tagline.  Depending on availability, we *should* be getting our paws on a review unit soon for a more comprehensive look at the device. However, in the meantime, you can check out the product’s page featuring all of its major selling points here.
