A Live-Action Naruto Movie Is In The Works From The Studio Behind Hunger Games
A Naruto live-action movie is in the works by Lionsgate, the studio best known for The Hunger Games franchise and other popular movies. The news broke via a Variety article showcasing various new screenwriters to look out for, which includes a screenwriter named Tasha Huo who wrote the script for the Naruto movie.
According to the report, Tasha Huo developed scripts for upcoming movies such as Red Sonja, Naruto and the Tomb Raider animated series. The only information revealed about the Naruto movie is that it’s in development at Lionsgate. No other details have been revealed so far, including director or casting news.

In a statement, Tasha Huo said:
“Adapting iconic characters or IP makes the writing of it easier, because the passion for writing it is already there. I’m so inspired by these characters already that it’s exciting to just take a part of their journey and try to tell that fun story in a way that would appeal to me as a fan.”
We’ll have to wait to see if the movie will be able to avoid the anime adaptation curse. The last major live-action movie adaptation of an anime or manga was Alita Battle Angel in 2019. Let’s hope this doesn’t turn out like another Dragon Ball Evolution (2009) and more like Netflix’s One Piece from earlier this year.
