A month ago, the Malaysian government allocated a sizeable budget of RM30 million towards the gaming and esports circuit for the year 2024. While that’s all well and good, the actual details are pretty vague. How will this money be divided? And what are the plans for esports in Malaysia on a wider scale.
Malaysia’s Ministry of Youth & Sports (KBS) did address a good portion of these questions during the Mobile Legends M5 Malaysia team sendoff event at the Parliament of Malaysia. We managed to speak with the Deputy Prime Minister of Youth & Sports of Malaysia, Adam Adli, about where the money is going and what the future holds for Malaysian esports and gaming.
