SDCC 2018: The Best Toys We’ve Seen So Far
This news is still in development.
These next few days are going to be filled to the brim with pop culture news of various shapes and sizes; after all, it’s San Diego Comicon 2018 week. For now, we’ll be showcasing the hottest and most recent toys from the show floor.
A new line of 12″ scale fully articulated action figures has been announced by Mondo. The new figures will feature robotic versions of iconic characters as part of the Mondo Mecha line up. The robots themselves will be based on classic mech designs from anime and manga.
The first wave will feature Marvel Comics heroes such as Black Panther, Captain America, and Spider-Man. They are rumoured to be priced at US$85 but so far there’s no confirmation from Mondo yet.
Right now this is as close as you can get to seeing the movie versions of Aquaman, Black Manta, and Mera. Oh and we get to see Batman White Knight’s version of the Caped Crusader.
We do appreciate some old-school Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles representation in action figure form (pics via Toyark). We now get two versions: one collection that’s based on the late 80s film and the other based on the first cartoon show. Leatherhead, Slash, those two Dimension X soldiers in the first season of the earlier cartoon series; all that’s missing is a built-to-scale Technodrome.
It’s not like even the most stalwart fans of the 80s D&D cartoon wanted this, but damn if it doesn’t look a mite impressive. Hank, Sheila, Eric, Diana, Bobby, that unicorn baby, and Presto + Presto’s bewildered expression: they’re all here. Oh and the diminutive Dungeon Master too.
DC’s Aquaman, Voltron, Marvel’s Thanos: no one’s spared.
You can now add Battle Angel Alita and John Wick into the mix (via Toy News International).
