NYXL Suffer Shock Departure
By Team KKP|March 20, 2019|2 Comments
The New York Excelsior lost a key member from their league dominating squad as one half of their support duo, Yeonjoon “ArK” Hong left for Washington Justice. As confirmed by both teams yesterday, the transfer sees Ark reunite with Justice Head Coach, Hyeong-seok “WizardHyeong” Kim who was formerly with the NYXL in OWL Season 1 and his former teammate at NYXL, Junhwa “Janus” Song.

The move sees the NYXL, who accrued a 100% record in Stage 1 of Overwatch League Season 2, left with only league MVP Jjonak and Anamo in the support corps. Looking somewhat shaky despite their wins of late, the shift of the meta (with the introduction of Baptiste) would be the true test for Jjonak & Co heading deeper into Season 2.
As for the Justice, seems like WizardHyeong is attempting to build a squad with Ark and Janus being the centerpiece. Ark’s decision is understandable as well. At the NYXL, he will always play second fiddle to the league MVP in Jjonak but at Washington Justice, he’s got all the opportunity to not only lead, but have a team which plays around him.

Do you think this was just about being the star player, or also about the money in the contract?

A bit of both surely but we are leaning more towards being the focal point of the team.
