Devil May Cry 5 Not Getting Any More Content, Confirms Producer

Capcom continued its current gaming renaissance with the release of the Resident Evil 2 Remake and most recently, Devil May Cry 5. The sequel to 2008’s Devil May Cry 4 has garnered widespread critical acclaim (including from us, check out our review) and sold a whopping 2 million copies as of March 2019.

The iconic Bloody Palace mode was added into the game earlier this month to the delight of fans everywhere. Unfortunately, it seems that there won’t be any more content planned for the game, according to Devil May Cry 5 producer Matt Walker. Here are several questions answered by Walker on his Twitter account:

Will Trish and Lady ever be playable in Devil May Cry 5?

Players will be disappointed to hear that Trish and Lady will likely never be playable characters in Devil May Cry 5, despite what the game’s post-credits scene implies. Walker confirmed that development on the game has officially ended, unlike other games like Assassin’s Creed Odyssey which has chosen to adopt the games-as-a-service model.

Will Vergil be playable in Devil May Cry 5?

Twitter user @VincentJaeger asked Walker if Vergil will ever be made playable in Devil May Cry 5. The addition of the Bloody Palace mode made fans excited at the possible prospect of being able to play as Dante’s twin brother.

Unfortunately, Walker confirmed that Capcom is not planning to add any more content to the game, which likely means that there won’t even be future DLC or expansions.

There you have it, folks. While this may not be what fans want to hear, the fact that Devil May Cry still managed to sell more than 2 million copies will probably not be ignored by Capcom. There’s still a chance that the developer may choose to start developing either a brand new sequel or even change their minds and decide to release DLC after all.
