Mortal Kombat 3’s Mercy Makes A Komeback In MK11; Here’s How To Do It

We enjoyed the heck out of Mortal Kombat 11 despite its grindey problems, but what we love about it is its plethora of secrets tucked within its gooey pores and 3D dead body parts post-Fatality. One such secret is Mercy, an end-of-match move introduced in Mortal Kombat 3 that grants your opponent a sliver of his/her health back for another beatdown. This was necessary to perform MK3’s Animalities.

According to a random match from Eventhub’s John ‘Velociraptor’ Guerrero, he discovered it after he was beaten down by a Kung Lao player who applied it onto him. Here’s a clip of him attempting it.

How To Mercy

So how do you do it? All you need to do is:

  • Defeat your opponent.
  • When the “Finish Him” prompt appears, move back to the “mid” distance (a jump away). The hold L2, press down a few times, and then release L2.
  • After that teabagging, your opponent should have a quarter of his/her life left.

Apart from getting the Not Dead Yet achievement (perform 10 Mercies), there isn’t really any other value in doing this apart from being disrespectful towards your opponent. Like I said, you perform Mercies by teabagging your opponent albeit at a distance.

In other news, you should buy Mortal Kombat 11. It’s hella fun except for a few bits which the devs may fix in the future.
