So What’s Happening With Torchlight Frontiers?
We’ve had some good times with Torchlight and Torchlight 2. After all, these games are created by the same folks who started the Diablo games via Blizzard. Its giant persistent multiplayer successor Torchlight Frontiers was announced a while ago (2018-ish), but will it make its 2019 release date? Not likely, according to its developer Echtra Games.
The company’s founder Max Schaefer (ie one of the guys responsible for Diablo) told PC Gamer that the game will be delayed to 2020. Why? Short version: it’s not ready yet.
“We have not updated that yet which we probably should (laughs). But we don’t have really specific things to say. We’re doing some changes to the game right now that is kind of hard to pin down. We don’t really have better information to give yet. So that’s kind of why we’ve been waiting.
But obviously, it’s not going to make it right away. It’s plugging along and it’s getting better every day. And we’re really excited about it. It’s just we’re kind of waiting for the right time to like, come out with another big news dump about what’s going on.”

It looks like both this game and Diablo IVÂ will be tackling the “shared, persistent, and dynamically-generated world” system. Whether you want yours with extra gore and satanic symbols, or with cute dogs that double as pack mules, it’s really up to you.
