Yes, CTR is an unabashed Mario Kart clone, but somehow this title feels slicker and faster than even Mario Kart 64. Probably because the game required you to use its boost system – the act of going super-fast by crashing into boxes and powersliding like heck- to get ahead, especially with the tough-as-nails bosses you had to race against.

And yeah, the four-player racing in split-screen also helped make this one a multiplayer hit among PlayStation users.
