Parappa The Rapper

Before other rhythm games like Guitar Hero and Rock Band dominated the 2000s, there was 1997’s Parappa The Rapper by NanaOn-Sha for the PS1. In collaboration with artist Rodney Greenblat and developer Masaya Matsuura, the game became iconic for its unique art and visuals, as well as the rap-based gameplay.

For better or worst, the game was synonymous with 90s pop culture and music trends, becoming a fond cult classic for gamers who grew up in the 90s. A remastered version of the game recently released for the PS4 in 2017, so it goes to show how iconic the game is.
