We May Be Facing A Temporary Nintendo Switch Shortage…
That Wuhan Coronavirus sure is putting a damper on a lot of things, especially in the video game business.
Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa has recently stated that Nintendo Switch production will be affected on a worldwide scale since its main production originates in mainland China (via NintendoSoup).
Furukawa confirms that the Wuhan Coronavirus outbreak has negatively affected the production of the Switch. Mainland China is currently in lockdown to contain the virus; consumers and retailers should expect temporary shortages of the device in the near future.
What does this mean? Well, distributors may probably take advantage of the situation and hike up prices of the Switch due to this unfortunate turn of events. I say “probably” because not many salespeople are that unscrupulous. Or are they?
Guess we’ll find out in a few months.
