Facebook has announced that they have acquired games developer Sanzaru Games for an undisclosed amount in order to develop “rich, immersive, and original VR game content”. According to the Oculus blog post, Sanzaru Games will continue to operate as an independent studio but as part of Oculus Studios.

Sanzaru Games have created four titles for the Oculus Platform since 2016 including Ripcoil, VR Sports Challenge, Marvel Powers United VR, and most recently, 2019’s Asgard’s Wrath. However, they have also developed non-VR games in the past, including 2013’s Sly Cooper: Thieves In Time and the remastered version of Spyro: Year Of The Dragon in the Spyro Reignited Trilogy.

It looks like we’ll be seeing more VR titles for the Oculus platform in the future. Once a niche, the VR genre is finally picking up steam, especially with Valve’s upcoming Hal-Life: Alyx on the way.
