Even Hollywood isn’t safe from the Covid-19.

Tom Hanks and his wife Rita Wilson has tested positive for the coronavirus while in Australia. The couple were there to shoot a movie about Elvis Presley. In a statement on Twitter, Hanks said that he and Wilson had taken the test after experiencing symptoms.

“We felt a bit tired, like we had colds, and some body aches. Rita had some chills that came and went. Slight fevers too,” the actor wrote. “To play things right, as is needed in the world right now, we were tested for the Coronavirus, and were found to be positive.”

Now that they’ve been tested positive, the two will be “tested, observed, and isolated for as long as public health and safety requires”.

In an Instagram video, Hank’s son Chet reassured fans of his parents’ safety, saying, “I just got off the phone with him. They both are fine, they’re not even that sick. They’re not worried about it, they’re not tripping, but they’re going through the necessary health precautions.”

He added, “I appreciate everyone’s concern and the well-wishes, but I think it’s all gonna be alright.”

With Hanks having a reputation for being a nice guy (he even played the role of another nice guy, the late Fred Rogers, in the movie A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood), the situation is a sobering reminder that the Covid-19 coronavirus doesn’t discriminate.

While we wish for the speedy recovery of him, his wife, and everyone who has been infected, we should also emulate the Hanks’ cautious actions and take their reminder to take care of ourselves to heart.
