The U.S. Isn’t The Most Active in Game-Related Tweets

As gamers, we have always had the impression that the U.S. was the central attention to big trends, including the gaming scene. But surprise, surprise! The country that hosts big video game conventions like E3 is apparently not the most active when it comes to talking about video games on Twitter.

In a Twitter analysis and cover by Matt Gardner on Forbes, while it has the most active Twitter user at 77 million, America missed the top spot to none other than Japan for having the most active game-related discussion on one of the world’s most used social media platform.

Meanwhile, South Korea lands in 3rd place, followed by Thailand in 4th and Indonesia in 5th place. This makes Asian countries dominate the top spots on this ranking.

Next up we have the most tweet about games. The rankings have remain unchanged for the most part for the past 6 months with miHoYo’s Genshin Impact taking the lead. Unsurprisingly, 2nd spot was taken by the daily puzzle Wordle, followed by Ensemble Stars!Final Fantasy, and Project Sekai respectively. Based on the visual chart below, it seems as a surprise that Elden Ring isn’t where we thought it should be but is still a worthy place for 7th despite being the most-streamed game in Q1 of 2021.

At last but not least, Twitter data also revealed ranking for another important community of the gaming scene, if not one the most prominent; Esports teams. Taking the 1st in the most discussed Esports team is Brazil’s LOUD, suprsingly dethroning established teams like G2 Esports, FaZe Clan, Fnatic, and T1.

For honorary mentions, here are few more gaming-related Twitter rankings for more food for thought.

Were you surprised by the Twitter rankings? Which do you think are deserving of the place (and which that don’t) and why? Let us know in the comments or head on over to our socials Twitter and Facebook to join the discussion.
