PlatinumGames Releases Official Statement On Bayonetta 3 Fiasco

Bayonetta 3 developer PlatinumGames has released an official statement on the controversy surrounding the recasting of their game’s titular character after previous voice actor Hellena Taylor explained how she was offered only a small sum of money to voice Bayonetta.

In a statement posted on their official Twitter account, PlatinumGames stated the following to hopefully defuse the current situation:

“We at PlatinumGames offer our sincerest appreciation to everyone who has contributed to creating the Bayonetta series over the years, as well as the community that has served as its foundation.

We give our full support to Jennifer Hale as the new Bayonetta, and align with everything in her statement.

We ask the people to refrain from any further comments that would disrespect Jennifer or any of the other contributors to the series.”

In case you missed it, this is what Jennifer Hale had to say about the matter several days ago:

There were also sources that allegedly state that Hellena’s full payout would have been US$15,000 (and more) as it was going to be more than a single session’s worth of recording. Usually, it’s US$4,000 or so per VO session for a few hours.

Bayonetta 3 is slated to launch for the Nintendo Switch on 28 October 2022.
